Code Reader Help
Greetings. Re: '95 Buick LeSalbre, 3.8 L engine.
Check engine light came on. I went to 4 sources to get the code read only to find that all of them reached the same conclusion that the reader cannot make contact with the auto computer. I started calling around and talked to a Tech who told me that my car is one of those borderline models and my car has a OBII connector but the system is OBI and my connector does not provide power to the reader, so I need a reader that has a power cord that can be plugged into the cigar lighter. Can I get a confirmation on this?

To the best of my knowledge we (I also have a '95 LeSabre) have OBD I cars. It takes a code reader that will do an OBD I vehicle and often a specific type of vehicle.
I believe you can get what you need in an OBD II unit that has OBD I capabilities. Check on line and at parts places like O'Reilly's.
