Default Re-fueling question

This will be my first winter with this car, and I was wondering if re-fueling it while the engine is running will trip a check engine light or anger the vehicle in any way? With past vehicles I have always done this and never had an issue, but heard a rumor that some GM vehicles will throw a code if you re-fuel while running.

Your thoughts?

Thanks

Joe

You might get a loose gas cap code (P0446?) but at the same time, the amount of time it takes to fuel up might not be enough to cause it to come on.

Not safe to do but I was in cars where it wasn't safe to turn it off either. As 2k2cse said, it shouldn't trip but if it does go to autozone advanced auto parts or any chain that scans cars FOR FREE to clear that code.

Look at it this way, if it does come on you will know why. When you drive it a few times the light will go out by itself since the condition was corrected. Then you will know.
