Default Just bought back my 1999 Park Ave 1SE

I'm new to the forum but not new to Park Aves. I've owned five large GM sedans with the 3800 V6 from 1988 to 1999 and just bought back my 1999 Park that I had sold to a friend three years ago. It actually has a few more bells and whistles than my 2006 Cadillac DTS Lux II. I bought it for my 17 year old but am thinking of keeping it for myself and selling my 2006 DTS (then buying my boy something else equally safe and large (big and boring is the way to go for the teenagers). Austere times call for austere measures.

Sold my large 89 Olds Delta 88 w/3800 engine and 240,000 miles to a friend about 3 years ago and wish I had it back as well. He is still driving it. I loved that car. If I could find another one in good shape with low miles, Buick or Olds, as they were the same car, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

One of my Park Aves was a 1991 I bought in 2002 with only 38,00 dealer serviced miles on it. Paid $4000. What a great car, although it started having multiple electronics failures in 2006 with 88000 miles. Still a lot of car for very little money when I traded it for $1300 and bought my Cadillac DTS new in 2006.

They changed the engine in 1997 and went with pink Dexcool coolant which is problematic, went to a plastic upper intake manifold which was also problematic, also changed the motor mounts so you had to remove the front motor mount to change serpentine accessory drive belt. Alternator became more difficult to replace and I recall the 3800's I had routinely ate alternators about every 45000 miles.

Other than THOSE issues the 3800 is bullet proof and I can get 35MPG on the highway at the posted speed limit (which I never drove until gas skyrocketed a few years a go and I decided to see what kind of mileage I could get)

I can drive from Mahwah NJ to Rocky Mount North Carolina on one tank of gas. I use engine restore after my oil change and zmax when i am going to travel long distance. my 99 park ave has 99,000 miles. I wouldn't trade it for the world.
