Default DIY Article: Replacing the Oxygen Sensors on a '02 Rendezvous

Hello again Buick fans!

I'd like to share a write-up on replacing the oxygen sensors in a Rendezvous with you guys. There are two o2 sensors: The Heated Oxygen (HO2S) Sensor (1) is located in the exhaust manifold. The Heated Oxygen (HO2S) Sensor (2) is located in the exhaust pipe, after the converter. Refer to this'02 Rendezvous Exhaust components listing for a complete parts list, diagram and more.

Replacing the HO2S Sensor 1-

1) Disconnect the electrical connector.

2) Raise the vehicle.

3) Remove the heated oxygen sensor.

Note: If the engine temperature is not above 120°F (48°C), the oxygen sensor will be difficult to remove.

4) Install the heated oxygen sensor.

5) Tighten the HO2S 1 to 30 ft. lbs. (41Nm)

6) Reconnect the electrical connector.

HO2S Sensor 2-

1) Disconnect the electrical connector.

2) Remove the heated oxygen sensor.

3) Install the heated oxygen sensor.

4) Tighten the HO2S 2 to 30 ft. lbs. (41Nm)

5) Reconnect the electrical connector.

6) Lower the vehicle.

7) You're done!
