How-TO: Replace the Side View Mirror Lens on a '96 Regal
Howdy folks,
If the side view mirror lens on your Regal is cracked or marred in any significant manner then it's a good idea to replace it as soon as you can. Thankfully, replacing simply the lens is a simple procedure involving no tools. (other than your hands) Here's a quick guide to replacing the side view mirror lens on a '96 Regal:
1) Push the right side of the Regal's mirror into the mirror housing with your hand. This pushes the left side of the mirror out of the housing.
2) Grasp the mirror lens with your hand and pull out on it until the mirror pulls free of the housing. There is a long metal strip secured to the back of the lens that slides into a slot in the mirror motor attached to the inside of the housing. As you pull on the mirror, it pulls the strip out of the motor.
3) Place the tip of the new mirror's metal strip into the slot on the mirror motor and then push the strip into the motor until the mirror lens sits flush with the front edge of the mirror housing.
4) You're done!
