Smile GMPP Warranty on my Buick

I purchased my 2010 Lucerne V-6 a little over 2 years ago.
It had 43k at the time and now is just under 50k.
I purchased a GMPP Major Guard 48 mo/48k miles warranty at the time of purchase.
I’ve used it for a couple of items previously but by and large the Buick has been really great.

Lately I’ve smelled like hot oil after the car had run for a while.
I took it to an Independent Shop that honors GMPP.
I actually went for an oil change and to replace a rear turn signal bulb.
I asked them to check for the source of the hot oil smell.

The Lower Intake was leaking.
Replaced the gasket.
The Rack & Pinion was leaking Power Steering Fluid.
Replaced the Rack & Pinion, outer Tie Rod Ends.
Replaced the Power Steering High Pressure Hose.

Also did a 4-wheel alignment.
Total charge to the GMPP was $2,170.11.

I added a new battery, oil change and 4-wheel alignment.
Should be good for a long time now.
Still have until Sept, 2018 or 91k left on the GMPP.

Sounds as if the plan has truly paid for itself. Can't say as no longer a mechanic these days but at only 50K miles I wonder if the power steering and linkage went bad prematurely.

We took the extended warranty on my Boss Mustang and will never use anything it appears. Our Buick after a year now is only 3K on OD but we elected not to go with extra warranties this time. Car's been flawless after just under 1st year ownership now and will just upgrade if problems start or added expenses. What else is there to do in ME when retired and 0deg. F out?

Did look at a few new Camaro's in Nov. while at Buick dealership for airbag software issue, but naw. Summer driving only with those and like my Mustang way better. They are nice but must draw the line I spose.
