Lesabre Harmonic Balancer Removal
Hello,
Thanks for the great forum and for the help!
I have a 1994 Lesabre that I suspect of having a faulty crank position sensor. I'm trying to remove the crankshaft pulley \ harmonic balancer \ vibration damper \ whatever you want to call it.
I've put some serious torque on that bolt holding the pulley on, and I cannot get the darn thing to budge. I've tried an impact wrench, that didn't do it either. (The wrench only goes to ~250 ftlbs or so)
Anyway, I am assuming that it is a regular thread nut, so I am turning it left to remove it. I know sometimes these pulleys have a reverse thread nut on them, does this happen to be one?
Anyway, any advice on removing the darn thing would be great!
Thanks again.

Hey I am new on here and i read your old reply about the harmonic balancer! We have did the same thing you mentioned. Impact, and even coming up with various ideas with absolutely no results! I see that was over a year ago! Could you email me at kiss_creatures@yahoo.com and share your findings with me! I would be sooooo grateful!
thanks

Hi,
I eventually just gave in and took it to my mechanic. He put it up on his lift where he had room to put a 5 foot cheater bar on it, and was able to get it off. It was really on there tight, though.
Good luck.

I had the same problem a few months ago. It is a regular thread. I used an air impact, and just kept at it. Don't forget, once you get the bolt out, you will need a puller to remove the harmonic balancer. Good Luck
