Greetings! Anybody know where the "knock sensor" on a 3800 V6 supercharger Park Avenue 93 is located? I hear around the oil filter? I can't find it from above.

I paid this guy to replace the water pump, serpintine belt and the other belt. He also changed front brake pads. GOOD except he returns the car with the service enigne light on which was never on before he worked on it. &^%$# Using the paper clip method it obdied it as code 43. Funny, the two fans came on while I was reading the codes with the ignition on...??

Anyway, where is this knock sensor please cause I can't find it. I disconnected the battery cables 3 times to erase codes and light but it comes right back on.

BTW that mechanic will never touch my vehicles

again...returns the vehicle with the warning light on. LOL THX!

i doubt that the knock sensor is bad. it is extremely rare for them to fail. but, it is above the oil sending unit. near the ps pump.

iirc code 43 is one of the est codes. i will have to check my fsm, and get back to you on where to start, sorry, i have to go to work right now.

ok according to the book, you need a scanner with live data.

with the pcm in closed loop, engine idling, and coolant above 130*, you should read a fixed value of KR between 4* and 20*.

but theere is a way to check the KS with a multi meter. measure between ks terminal and the block, you should see 3.3k to 4.5k ohms.

and you can also measure the voltage at the harness when the key is on, eng off. should be close to 5v.

check the voltage and resistance and we can go from there.
