hello fellas, im new to the forum so bare with me.





i have a 98 regal gs, i dont know how many miles are on it because the
odometer broke a couple years back.. but im just going to assume about
130,000. the service engine soon, service vehicle soon, trac off,
brake, and anti-lock lights have all been going/staying on for about 8
months now... my brother took the car to a friend of his who has a
diagnostic system and told me nothing but "all these lights trace back
to the supercharger" didnt give me any codes or anything....




well, the car has been driving pretty much flawlessly for all these
8 or so months, except about a week ago, after not being driven for 2
days i tried to start my car and it just died. i changed the oil about
a month ago and it has a full tank of gas. when i say its dying i mean
it'll start and just give out... i can keep it running by pumping the
gas to 2500+ rpm's but as soon as i let go the car dies. The battery
appears to have leaked a little bit of acid and im going to replace
that but i dont think thats the entire reason my car is dying.




does anyone have any ideas as to what might be happening?

i always fill it with regular gas from either bp or shell


the oil is mobile 1 synthetic 10w-30

It sounds like your fuel pump resistor is bad. The 98 Regal GS supercharged engine has a fuel pump resistor that slows the fuel pump down when the engine is not needing the extra fuel, which is most of the time. When you first start the car they want the full output from the pump to get the system primed so your car will start, but as soon as it starts it switches over to the lower output for the pump so when the power goes through the resistor it looses power to the pump. The resistor is located beind the right front fender near the battery. It is posible that the battery acid leaked and corroded the wires but I've seen the resistors go bad so that is the most likely problem. Remove your right headlight and then you should be able to see the connector for the resistor. It is a 2 wire connector. Unplug it and then you can take a jumper wire and connect it to the terminals to prove if the resistor is bad because you just eliminated the resitor with your jumper wire. GM came out with a new resistor kit that relocates the resistor to the firewall because it is a pain in the rear to get to it in the fender behind the washer fluid tank. I just leave to old one and put the new one on.
