I need help, BIG TIME.

A few weeks ago, I started the car and it wouldn't idle very well and had just enough power to move itself around. About 20-30 seconds later, it cleared up and ran perfect, like it always does. The SES light didn't come on that time. This happened (2) more times in the next couple weeks, so I had the code read (P0306 - #6 misfire). I changed the oil, the oil filter, the fuel filter and added a can of Sea Foam to help clean everything out. She ran just fine, purred like a kitten, roared like a lion.

Last Thursday, I'm coming home from work, I kick it in to pass a car on the highway, I get to about 90mph and the engine starts to miss something FIERCE. I get it off the highway and it rolls into the parking lot of a 7-11 and she hasn't started since.

I checked all the fuses and switched-around the relays from the fans to the ignition locations - still nothing. The fuel pump engages and I get 47psi or more at the fuel rail. The SES codes still only show P0306. I bought a couple ICMs from a salvage yard (50% rule) and neither of them started the car. If I let thestarte turn the engine for a while, I can smell gas in the exhaust pipe. I bought a spark plug tester and it seems to light up at the coil pack for 6/3 as well as 2/5. I don't know how bright it SUPPOSED to get, but ... it lights.

The dealership says it could be the crank sensor, but ... I'd hate to go out and buy the flywheel tool and the pulley tool and the special bolt ... waste a good part of the day replacing the crank sensor ... and have it STILL not work.

Anyone had this problem, before? I could REALLY use some help, here.

Thanks, in advance!

now on the ser 1 3800's, if the crank sensor is bad, you will have no spark. not 100% on the ser 2, but i would think it to be similar.

regarding the fp, how much more?

and i believe there was a recall on the fpr, for 98 L36 engines.
